Preoccupied from my usual regimen of twice-a-week posting…I get to help facilitate OneWeekend! This OMS camp exploring God’s call & how to make an action plan begins in 8 hours…the Carlsons (missionaries with OMS, they live in the US but Shirley is from NZ/Australia) are here for it, even!…yesterday we finalized our plans at this “castle” in Yellingbo. It was so great to see the Carlsons again, as I haven’t seen them since working at OMS headquarters in Indiana.
The Bongers and I went to Wandin for our prayer meeting. Usually the prayer group meets here in the office, but the Carlsons were out in Yellingbo. To make it easier, the whole group + the Carlsons met at our prayer leader’s house in the countryside. After the meeting, the Bongers and I followed the Carlsons back to where they’re staying. A castle-esque events center, owned by Shirley’s sister & brother-in-law. The Carlson kids and the Bongers kids are friends from last summer, when the Bongers attended Cross training at OMS world headquarters in the US. While the adults planned, the kids ran wild. It was so sweet to hear them shouting and laughing together.
So now in just 8 hours it all begins.
It’s really special for me to be able to facilitate this first OneWeekend in Australia. In November 2010 I attended the first OneWeekend ever, held in the US. That was the weekend God called me to be a missionary. I’m so excited for what this weekend could mean for our 10 participants, and even for the 5 of us leading the sessions.
Please pray that God will keep His hand on all of us, and that we won’t be afraid to be vulnerable with each other…or afraid to do something drastic if God asks us to!
