“This is Life. This is what we have been looking for!”

“After two days He will revive us; on the third day He will raise us up, that we may live in His sight.”
Hosea 6:2 (NKJV)

Whatever situation we pray for revival in – be it our own hearts, our churches, our country, other countries, people groups – we’re really asking for one thing: the Living God. He is revival. A revival happens when, as one OMS missionary put it, we realize that Jesus is the only one who can meet every need…and we stop looking in other places.

I’ve talked a lot about the need for revival in Ireland and how several Irish pastors affiliated with OMS have stated the need for workers, but especially for prayer. That’s true! If revival is, in a word, HIM, and prayer is how we directly communicate with God, then prayer is the only way for revival to happen in any sense. There must be workers, there must be prayer. There must be the Holy Spirit. There must be prayer.

During July CROSS training we discussed how prayer must be our first way of dealing with spiritual warfare both defensively and offensively. Supernatural is defined, according to the online Merriam Webster dictionary, as “of or relating to an order of existence beyond the visible observable universe…”

I’m grateful to God that I was raised in a home where the supernatural was a part of life. We were raised not to blame every bad thing on demons, but also to avoid that other extreme of separating the supernatural and the physical. God is a supernatural being who created the physical. The two are intrinsically linked. Spiritual warfare is a reality we cannot always see with our eyes, and ignoring it only makes things worse – Satan is the enemy and he thrives on ignorance and fear. Spiritual battle is a serious matter but it is nothing to fear. Isaiah 35:4, “Say to those who are fearful-hearted, ‘Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God; He will come and save you.’ ” (NKJV)

One of the first things God brought to my mind when I knew I wouldn’t be going to the Philippines was the idea of strengthening my prayer support. Even more than that, getting SUPER STRONG prayer support! A whole metaphorical web, a whole metaphorical building, of prayer! Not just for the ministry God is preparing me for with OMS, but for Ireland and Western Europe in general. To pare it down, God is showing me how to put together an impactful prayer initiative.

I’ve gathered prayer requests and praises from OMSers in Ireland, from other missionaries and from Irish Christians in the Republic of Ireland. I’ve put them into several categories. What I need now, from you, is a commitment to pray for at least one of four categories (People, Places, Church, National) several times a week if not more. Prayer requests regarding trafficking and my own work with HOPE61 will be included.

But it’s even more than that. I want  God to work in your life, too!

Here’s the plan:

  1. If you’re interested, let me know ASAP!
  2. We talk about which category you’d like to pray for.
  3. I gather prayer requests and praises from YOU, which I am committed to pray for.
  4. Every few weeks you and I touch base via email or phone and update each other on prayer and praises.

I realize it will require a sacrifice of time for you and me both to invest this way. But I believe this prayer initiative will make all the difference in getting HOPE61 into Ireland, and seeing God’s kingdom come on earth, as it is in heaven! Would you join me in fighting this righteous battle for Ireland?

“ ‘For I am the LORD. I speak, and the word which I speak will come to pass; it will no more be postponed…I will say the word and perform it.’ says the LORD God.”
Ezekiel 12:25 (NKJV)

*title is a quote from a formerly prostituted woman. She asked Jesus to show Himself to her and for months He came to her in her dreams, without condemnation in His eyes — only love.
